Volunteer Income Tax Assistance

Are you passionate about helping others? Become a volunteer income tax preparer with United Way, and you can help low and moderate income, working families in New Haven. If you are interested in completing your tax return yourself and in the comfort of your home for free, try "MyFreeTaxes"! It's available year round, it's free, easy to use, reliable and available to individuals and households earning up to $64,000. "MyFreeTaxes" is an online self filing tool that empowers users to prepare and file their federal and state tax returns for free. To use "MyFreeTaxes" you must have a valid e-mail address, computer savvy but online and telephone assistance is available. To get started click here.

FREE Tax Preparation Is Available In Hamden, East Haven, New Haven, West Haven and Woodbridge.

All sites offer free tax preparation to individuals and households with incomes up to $53,505 on a first-come, first-serve basis or by appointment.   Please check each site's information to see if an appointment is needed.  Most sites are open from the last week of January through April 15th. Be sure to check the list of documents to bring with you and come prepared.
