Winter School Break Groceries
Over the holiday break, many New Haven Public School families faced added pressure to ensure they had enough food to eat while students were home. Without daily access to school meals, the holiday period can become especially challenging for families already stretched thin.
To help bridge this gap and make sure students and their families had the support they needed, United Way of Greater New Haven worked with community partners to get food to families. Together, we served 2,272 individuals across 3 different sites.
Thank you to the volunteers, including members of our board of directors, who came out on a rainy afternoon to get food to families just in time for the holidays. And thank you to our partners for making school break groceries possible.
Sharing Toys and Joy Over the Holidays
Toy & Coat Drive 2025
The holiday season was made a bit brighter and warmer thanks to the donors and volunteers who made our 2025 holiday Toy and Coat Drive the biggest one yet! We collected 396 children’s gifts and 160 warm coats for the winter season, distributed to Early Head Start families around the Greater New Haven area.
We are truly grateful to every donor who contributed. Because of your generosity, our neighbors and their families had the excitement of gifts and the comfort of warmth this holiday season.
And a special thank you to volunteers who helped sort all the donations!
