Tutor young students in reading

Are you age 50+? Do you have 2 mornings or 2 afternoons weekly to help young children learn to read?

Experience Corps needs volunteers to tutor reading with young children in a participating New Haven, Hamden or East Haven elementary school OR afterschool program.

Volunteers tutor 2+ times/week (about 6 hours) from October to June.

Volunteers receive training, support, supervision, appreication - and children's smiles!! 

Please join us at one of the information meetings listed below to learn more about becoming an Experience Corps volunteer:

HAGAMAN LIBRARY, 227 Main Street, East Haven (use back entrance):2pm on Tuesday August 15 and Tuesday September 12 

MILLER LIBRARY – Friends’ Room, 2901 Dixwell Avenue, Hamden:  Thursday August 24 at 1:30pm

AGENCY ON AGING, 1 Long Wharf Drive, Suite 1L  New Haven, CT:  10:30am on Wednesday August 2  and Wednesday September 6

Volunteer Requirements: 
Volunteers must be age 50+, have a H.S. diploma & good literacy skills. You must pass background check via fingerprints.
