- Tell us a little about how you Live United by giving, advocating and volunteering in the community.
I started at the West Haven Child Development Center as an MSW intern in January 2009. I was hired in September 2009 as a substitute teacher and Social Work Assistant. In September 2011, I was added to the Administration team as the Development Coordinator. My job includes creative fundraising, increasing parent involvement, and community relations.
I founded Connecticut Partnership for Children, Inc. in March 2009 to help support low-income children and their families throughout Connecticut. I currently serve as the Executive Director and Social Worker. We operate a diaper bank at our office in Seymour, CT, in addition to running a Thanksgiving Food Program and "Helping Hands, Warming Hearts," a winter family sponsorship program that provides clothing and items of warmth to children throughout CT living in low-income families.
As far as giving and volunteering is concerned, I personally donate to and participate in fundraising efforts run by St. Jude Children's Hospital. I also run live theater shows at the Strand Theater in Seymour, CT to benefit their Restoration Project. I am also the owner of the Mad Hatter Boutique in Seymour, CT. The profits of the vintage corner of the store directly benefit Connecticut Partnership for Children, Inc.
