Books Collected for Kids!!!

The Community Dining Room in Branford, led by Executive Director Pat Kral, serves thousands of meals every year to individuals and families from across the region. But you may not know that not only do they serve meals they also have a small collection of books for the children to read and take home with them. However, the key word is “small” collection.

But thanks to the folks at Read to Grow, the Courtyard by Marriott in Orange, CT, PFP Schmitt-Sussman Enterprises Inc., and Yale Conference Services, that collection is not so small anymore.

Books for Babies

Status:
Active

Books for Babies links health to the importance of early literacy, language and attachment, and meets families in the hospital when a baby is born — an innovative approach to preventing future reading and learning difficulties.

Read to Grow

Read to Grow is a statewide nonprofit organization that helps build early literacy for Connecticut’s children. It is the only statewide organization that places books in the hands of parents at their baby’s birth. Books for Babies encourages parents to seize the window of opportunity for bonding and brain development that exists early in each child’s life. Free children’s books are also provided to families and programs in need as well as parental guidance on building the foundation for later literacy and learning.
