There is much to be grateful for in 2011. It is the time of year to reflect, celebrate with friends and family and to be hopeful for the future. We have done our reflection and we are grateful to live and work in Greater New Haven.
Jack Healy recently wrote an opinion piece that appeared in the New Haven Register about the education achievement disparity between low-income and minority students and their suburban peers.
By the end of Waiting for Superman, Davis Guggenheim’s new documentary about America’s failing education system, I – like the parents and students in the film – was trembling on the edge of my seat, heart palpitating, breathlessly awaiting the lottery results, wondering “Which lucky child will make it into the charter school of her/his choice?”
