Life Haven, Inc. is a temporary shelter providing a safe and nurturing environment for homeless pregnant women and women with young children. We are committed to assisting them with life skills to help them live independently.
Life Haven serves 20 families at a time. Over 150 families are shelter annually, including 250 children. Almost 90% of families entering Life Haven move out into permanent housing into the community. It is our goal to end homelessness one family at a time.
Inside of the Life Haven, Inc. shelter, you will find a licensed, NAEYC accredited childcare center. With one School Readiness Preschool and one Early Head Start infant/toddler class, our size is small, but the impact on the families we serve is great. The childcare was established to support the mothers that reside in the shelter. It allows them to leave their children in a safe, consistent and developmentally appropriate environment staffed by qualified early childhood teachers.
Life Haven Childcare Center is a licensed daycare, providing services year-round for up to 18 children, ten hours a day, from ages six weeks to five years old. The center is inside the shelter and services families that are living in the shelter, those participating in the Aftercare program or coming from other shelters, and those in the local community. The center provides families with a safe and consistent setting to leave their children as they secure permanent housing and/or employment.
