United Way is seeking applicants through AmeriCorps VISTA  to join the Boost! Service Corps Team.

PROGRAM DESCRIPTION

United Way of Greater New Haven (UWGNH) is in partnership with the City of New Haven and the New Haven Public Schools to coordinate wraparound services to support young people’s overall development and enhance their ability to learn in the classroom.  The initiative, called Boost!, is a component of New Haven’s School Change Initiative (to learn more, visit www.NewHavenSchoolChange.org).  Boost! addresses wraparound services that fall into four broad domains which have been demonstrated to contribute to young people’s ability to succeed in school and in life: physical health, social and behavioral health, family support and engagement, and extended learning opportunities.

Our $7+ million, 12 town United Way is seeking a senior fund raising professional and relationship manager to develop and implement a revitalized individual and major gifts program. The Major Gifts Officer is directly responsible for the identification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of individual donors with a primary focus on gifts of $5,000 and above. This position will be proactive in developing personal relationships (outside the workplace campaign) with current and prospective donors and strengthening their connectivity with United Way of Greater New Haven (UWGNH). Responsibility and accountability for the development and achievement of annual fundraising goals is critical to the position and organization’s success. The Major Gifts Officer will be a key public figure at community events and meetings to increase United Way’s presence through networking, prospecting and relationship building. The candidate will work closely with the CEO, senior staff and lead volunteers.
