Thought for Food

Did you know it's Food Day today? Did you know there are many days of celebration's in New Haven, so I guess we can call it Food Day's? If you have not already done so, you should checkout the list of upcoming events in New Haven (http://fooddaynh.org/find-an-event/). There is a lot to choose from. I have already been celebrating. This Saturday I went by bike on a tour of many of New Haven's urban gardens.

United Way of Greater New Haven hosts IBM Social Media Workshop for Area Nonprofits

As a recipient of an IBM Services Strategies for Social Media grant, United Way of Greater New Haven recently engaged eight area nonprofits in a one-day workshop designed to help organizations benefit from social network media best-practices and leverage appropriate media for its identified cause.  Agencies participating in this exciting opportunity included New Haven Home Recovery, Integrated Refugee and Immigrant Services (IRIS), Fair Haven Community Health Center, GNH Chamber of Commerce, Columbus House, Special Olympics of CT, SARAH, Inc. and United Way of Greater New Haven.

Smiles Forever is an oral health promotion program through which FHCHC pediatricians and nurse practitioners will provide parents and primary caregivers with education and skills to strengthen their child’s growth and development. Developmentally appropriate groups for parents and their 12- to 18- month-olds will help parents’ capacity to anticipate, identify and support the important developmental milestones that children need to meet to be school ready.
