When you are unsure of how to budget, it can feel like your finances are spinning out of your control.  Gain the skills that will make you confident about your financial future.  More knowledge means more confidence.  And more confidence means more control over your life.  If you're unsure of how to plan for your family's financial future, SAM can help you learn the budgeting skills to get yourself on the road to financial stability.


Who can participate in SAM?

If you are a resident of New Haven, Hamden, West Haven, or East Haven with a low-to-moderate income, you can apply to participate in SAM.  SAM is particularly helpful for working households, but are challenged to live within their budgets or meet their financial goals (saving for college or a car or home purchase).

 

How much time will I spend with my financial coach?

SAM participants commit to up to monthly face-to-face sessions with a budget coach over a  four month period.

 

What if I need more information or support?

SAM participants are referred to other agencies for additional services, such as credit repair, debt reduction, and homeownership training.
