In the final week of summer vacation, Mayor John DeStefano Jr. gave some advice to parents to ensure a healthy start of the school year for kids.
“Eat an apple,” he said.
The suggestion came Monday afternoon at an event meant to educate parents about ways to keep their kids healthy as they go back to school this year. And the emphasis on good physical health for students is part of the district’s new Boost! program, which is being piloted in five city schools: Barnard, Clinton Avenue, Troup, Wexler-Grant and Metropolitan Business Academy. Boost! takes a holistic approach to helping kids succeed in school.
