The Augusta Lewis Troup School, one of 5 Boost! schools in New Haven, had their winter concert on Wednesday December 14, 2011. Over 200 people attended including many family members, friends, and Troup staff. The evening opened with the middle school band performance, where many woodwinds, percussion instruments, and brass flowed together to create great music. Following the middle school band, the chorus teacher came up with a guitar and many young children, and they sang adorable songs. The jazz band took the stage next, where students in grades 6-8 performed a few songs that were quite enjoyable. We heard some great music throughout the evening! The chorus that meets afterschool then came to the front, and sang several pretty songs, some about snow and others about holding hope and feeling strong. The final act was the largest act: the fifth and sixth grade band. Great applause came from the audience, which showed the excitement to see these children performing music on stage. I enjoyed seeing these groups' culmination of the efforts over the last few months. I know that much preparation went into this fabulous concert, and I enjoyed witnessing the excitment, applause, and students' pride on stage.
