Covidien employees spent a sunny but blustery afternoon at Grand Acres Community Garden in the Fair Haven section of the city. The group raked leaves, began to winterize the gardens and worked on the living wall as part of Covidien's Day of Caring activities to support their United Way Campaign. Grand Acres is just one of the New Haven Land Trust's 45 gardens in the city of New Haven that utilize vacant urban plots to create community vegetable gardens. The gardens create opportunities for families and communities to work together and teach sustainable living while enjoying delicious home grown bounty.
