Despite the rain, the community joined together to celebrate the kick-off of our annual United Way Community Campaign. Although United Way is fund-raising and awareness raising year round, the most intense period is the from September to December. This period is what is called the Community Campaign. During those four months many workplaces will rally in support of Education, Income and Health. The kick-off celebrates these workplaces and community volunteers.
Those in attendance were given the first opportunity to give to United Way by text message. They simply were asked to text GNH to UNITED (864833) and a $10 donation was charged to their phone bill. This service will be running throughout the campaign and will be used at various special events and other large gatherings.
During the event several of the United Way staff asked attendees to share their voice on what their aspirations were for the community. We will be posting the results of those interviews soon.
*$10 will be added to your mobile phone bill/ deducted from your prepaid account. Message and Data Rates May Apply. Reply STOP to 8646833 to stop. Full terms: mgive.org/t
