Two certified, experienced classroom teachers work with 25 at-risk kindergarten and pre-kindergarten students. Each student receives two hours of instruction a week in a small-group setting (2-5 students). Instructional time focuses on core academic and social concepts, including phonemic awareness, alphabetic knowledge and sight word recognition. All children will be assessed on writing their names, reciting the alphabet, letter recognition, consonant sounds, and Dolch Sight Words. The key activities of Kindergarten Success Program include weekly small group instruction, a Summer Literacy Camp and a Spring Parent Workshop.
