Located in the Dixwell/Newhallville area of the City of New Haven, the proposed program will provide educational resources and training to teen parents to increase their knowledge of the important developmental milestones their children must meet to come to school success- ready. Key services include expanding opportunities for parents to learn child development skills and increase their involvement in their child’s school, supporting families’ efforts to access early care and education programs and assist teens to graduate from high school or obtain their GED. The program will serve high school students and students enrolled in alternative high school programs with children between ages 0-5 or expecting parents. Teen parents will participate in trainings, workshops, and exposure to resources that will help meet the program goals (i.e. visits to child care centers, access to online resource tools, early learning reading centers, etc.) Approximately 35 teens are expected to participate.
