The Boost! program will be a series of partnerships between the city, school district and nonprofit organizations that offer services to respond to student needs. Since every school has different needs, the district will conduct assessments of the five schools piloting the program to determine priority areas, such as physical health, social and behavioral well-being, school engagement and family support. The goal is to have all schools participating in Boost! within five years.
United Way of Greater New Haven is partnering with the city and district to implement Boost! in the pilot schools.
“We know that students do their best in school and are able to maximize their possibilities when their personal, physical and emotional needs are met,” DeStefano said.
The goal of Boost! is to improve student and parent access to resources that make a child’s life better and provide for a better learning environment.
