The Ten Year Plan outlines the strategies that the City of New Haven and a wide range of community partners will need to take over the next decade to end chronic homelessness in our community. It is an ambitious agenda, and one that can only be achieved through a concentrated regional effort, a significant commitment of federal and state dollars, and the work of many groups all focused on the ultimate goal.

On February 6, 2006, the Bush administration submitted to Congress its proposed federal budget for FY 2007, which begins October 1, 2006. Overall, the budget would slow the rate of growth in spending outside of defense and homeland security, while making tax cuts from the president’s first term permanent. The administration says its budget fulfills the president’s promise to cut the deficit in half by 2009.
Many programs of concern to United Ways are funded at current levels or subjected to spending cuts. Even those that are not cut may experience service reductions after accounting for increased costs due to inflation.
