All families deserve the opportunity to live in affordable, safe housing and earn a living that supports their family.  Economic security leads to stronger families, healthier children and fewer long-term negative impacts on communities.

• The hourly wage needed to afford a 2-bedroom apartment in our region and not pay more than 30% of income is $21.17.  This translates into $40,040 annually and is equivalent to almost three full-time minimum wage jobs.

 

• Connecticut has the second-most unequal household income distribution in the country and has experienced the greates growthin household income inequality over the past several decades.
