| There are a variety of ways you can direct your charitable gift through United Way:
Community Fund - Making an unrestricted gift allows you to help the greatest number of people possible and support a wide range health and human service programs run by local agencies. The Community Fund also supports our Community Response and Community Initiatives Fund. Your gift is combined with those of your friends, neighbors and co-workers to multiply your impact on the community.
Success By 6 - You can allocate all or part of your gift to go to the Success By 6 early childcare initiative. Your gift to SUCCESS BY 6® helps ensure that the children of this region are ready to learn when they enter school and have a solid
foundation for life-long success.
Focus Areas - Giving through a Focus Area is another opportunity to direct your contribution to a particular area(s) of concern. There are three Focus Areas: Supporting Children and Youth, Strengthening Families an Connecting Seniors.
Restricted Giving - You are also able to designate your gift directly to health and human service agencies that meet basic standards of accountability. Agencies approved by United Way of Greater New Haven and meeting these standards are listed here. Many donors make gifts to the Community Fund in addition to designating to specific programs.
United Way prides itself on keeping overhead costs as low as possible. To help in this effort, United Way passes on an administrative and fundraising fee of just 17.5% per designated gift.
