FREE tax preparation in your neighborhood!

¡preparación de impuestos GRATIS en su barrio!

If your household earned less than $50,000 in 2012, you could qualify for CT’s New State Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC) (worth up to $1700)— and have your taxes prepared for FREE!

VITA (Volunteer Income Tax Assistance) provides free tax preparation services to low-to-moderate-income individuals and families earning less than $50,000 a year. IRS-trained community volunteers may help with special credits, such as Earned Income Tax Credit, Child Tax Credit, and Credit for the Elderly or the Disabled.

In addition to free tax return preparation assistance, most sites also offer free electronic filing (e-filing). Individuals taking advantage of the e-file program will receive their refunds in half the time compared to returns filed on paper – even faster when tax refunds are deposited directly into one's bank account.

Find a FREE tax preparation site near you!

Our goal is to help 4,000 families receive refunds that will reinvest millions of dollars in Greater New Haven.  To do that, we need 100 volunteers. Find out how you can become a VITA Volunteer today!
