Last week a group of about 30 volunteers from Target, led by Michael Davidson, lent their muscle at the Roses for Autism greenhouse in Guilford. Target supplied the much needed manpower to get ready for the planting season for next year’s flowers. Volunteers filled about 300 pots with enriched soil and set them up on the lines for planting that will be taking place in the next few weeks. Some groups were filling Mother’s Day single rose packages and some were designated to clean the pots. As one can imagine, with a 100,000 greenhouse to maintain, there can never be enough hands to help.
Luckily, with the help of volunteers, Roses for Autism is able to do the work they do and maintain their grounds, which can be very expensive. The time volunteered by Target employees, is a great example of how, when folks come together around a common goal, things get done.
United Way is always seeking opportunities for companies and individuals to LIVE UNITED and make a difference in their community. We applaud Target not only for their muscle but their time. We encourage, companies like Target to join the movement and create the change you want to see in your community. On behalf of United Way and Roses for Autism: Target, we thank you!
