Members of United Way of Greater New Haven’s Women’s Initiative kicked off their weekend Friday afternoon with a different type of “happy hour,” donating about 3,500 diapers to The Diaper Bank in North Haven.
Childhood wellness is a top priority among Women’s Initiative members, which made partnering with The Diaper Bank a natural fit. Through a distribution network of 66 agencies, The Diaper Bank provides free diapers to poor and low-income families in New Haven, Bridgeport and Middlesex counties.
The organization distributes 170,000 diapers a month, and our Women’s Initiative was happy to help meet the growing need leaders of The Diaper Bank said they are noticing in the community.
United Way of Greater New Haven has been a long-time partner with The Diaper Bank, which is entirely privately funded.
Women’s Initiative members held diaper drives at their workplaces or among their social circles to collect diapers, and celebrated with a “bottoms up” toast Friday as they delivered their donations and toured the nonprofit’s warehouse.
Thank you to the Women of the Grove, Yale School of Nursing, Connecticut Orthopaedic Specialists and other friends and members of the Women’s Initiative!
