My Experience with United Way
My name is Gloria Washington and I’m 15 years old. I currently attend Hillhouse High School and I just finished my internship at United Way of Greater New Haven. I was here last year and I loved it. I worked with my friend Taylor and we had a blast. We worked well together and reorganized everything. I was so excited to come back and experience the same thing.
I missed the first week and I was so upset, but when I came everyone was happy to see me! Then when I asked what we are doing that day, they told us that we were going to sit in on meeting and take notes. Then we had to sit at a computer and write down addresses. I thought these were the most boring things in the world!
Then after a while it started getting better and the people that work here are easy to get along with. I realized that it doesn’t matter how boring the work is, but to make the best out of it and to not show that I really didn’t want to do it. Also that it was a lesson to show that in the real world, work can get boring at times, its not an everyday thing when your going to have fun, but don’t let that one day tell you that you don’t want to come back or that you don’t even want to go.
So I never complained and I appreciate the way that the people love seeing us here and giving us good advice on everything we needed to know; I will definitely take what they said to me and apply it to my everyday life. It was definitely a great pleasure working here and I appreciate everything everybody has done for me! Thank u very much and I hope you have a great year. KEEP UP THE WONDERFUL WORK!!
