Get Lost. Find New Haven.

In 2003, over dinner, my friend Miles said how much fun it would be to have a scavenger hunt in New Haven. We discussed all of the interesting landmarks, buildings and hidden treasures that the Elm City had to offer, and we decided, there and then, that we’d try our hand at organizing a game. With a couple of friends’ help, no more than 20 players, and lots of energy, we pulled it off, and Cluefest was born.
Cluefest is New Haven’s annual citywide scavenger hunt. Cluefest teams race across New Haven in cars, on bikes and on foot, answering clues and engaging in fun challenges. Along the way, players meet new people while exploring the famous and not-so-famous New Haven landmarks, institutions and residents that make this city so extraordinary. They day concludes with a huge party where there are prizes, food, and revelry.
Cluefest’s mission is to promote New Haven as an exciting and thriving community among people who live, work and play in the city. We hope that Cluefest players will explore new neighborhoods, meet new friends, and gain a new or renewed commitment to the city and each other. In it’s 7th year, Cluefest is now organized by The Group With No Name, a group of city residents who volunteer their time because they love New Haven, and want to share their love of and commitment to the city with others. TGWNN’s mission is to turn residents into citizens through fun, social, civic and educational activities. Our hope: residents’ understanding of and commitment to city issues and city life deepens.
Each year Cluefest grows in size and scope. In 2008, Cluefest drew over 275 scavengers. At this year's game over 300 scavengers are expected to participate. Come out and play! Join us. Get Lost. Find New Haven.
