On, March 24, 2010 from 5:30 – 7:00 p.m. at the MacMillan Center at Yale University, I along with 40+ community stakeholders attended a community event announcing the United Way of Greater New Haven and Annie E. Casey Foundation's new Initiative, Financial Coaching (FCI). FCI will provide a wealth of new learning; budget coaching and financial guidance to greater New Haven residents helping them achieve financial stability.

The Financial Coaching Initiative (FCI) is a free program offered by United Way of Greater New Haven in partnership with The Annie E. Casey Foundation. The Financial Coaching Initiative will give consumers the tools and support they need to take control of their finances and put them on the road to financial stability. A coaching model utilizing volunteer financial coaches will help educate, guide, and encourage households, through one-on-one coaching sessions that will identify and work through specific financial concerns and goals. Depending on the individual’s goals, the coaching program may include up to six one-on-one sessions. FCI will serve residents of New Haven, Hamden, West Haven and East Haven; there are no income restrictions to receive services.

To learn more about this initiative or how to become a financial coach please contact Jan McCray at (203)-691-4216 or jmccray@uwgnh.org.
