A Boost FOR Boost!

Boost!boost

A couple of weeks ago, I had the pleasure of meeting with Ann of Metropolitan Business Academy, Michelle (UW's Boost! Program Manager), and Kim Bohen (UW's Director of Educational Initiatives), and I must say that I walked away EMPOWERED!

Higher Heights YEP, Inc. is a local college access program and our area of expertise of college preparation for families.  This year we are expanding our services to include mentoring for young women and men through our HIGHER Men and HIGHER Women Programs.

Through various assessments and analysis of the New Haven Public High Schools, we were approached to present our HIGHER Men Program to representatives of Metropolitan Business Academy.

And I must say that I am so proud that 1) that Higher Heights can be an additional resource to the New Haven Community and 2) finally there are productive conversations and connections being made that will be very fruitful for our young people.

I just learned that Metropolitan has signed up 20 African American males for the program and has 5 students on a waiting list.

The program will begin Wednesday, February 9th and will run for 6 weeks.

So here’s a BIG Boost for Boost!

Thank you for allowing a nonprofit to partner with New Haven Public Schools- this is EXCELLENT!
