About my Internship at United Way
Hi my name is Ta’Vonna Stewart I am fifteen years old I’m in the tenth grade and I attend Hamden High School. At first, my experience at United Way of Greater New Haven, I have to admit, was the most boring job I thought I could ever have. The first couple weeks sat at a computer all-day everyday doing four hours of work a day. I would start to think “work or youtube” and I bet you all can guess how that went, but as time went on I began to see the light out of the whole internship.
I realized I was working at a company doing office work and I’m only fifteen. Not many fifteen year olds have that opportunity. What I mean by opportunity is later in life when I’m a little older if I wanted an office job I would have EXPERIENCE, which is something most young people don’t have. Also the employees here at United Way are the worst……no kidding they’re really great, seriously, everyone is like family here and they made me feel like a part of that.
They’re so into what they do and love it so much. For example when I’ve went around talking to each employee they brightened up talking about what they do. So to wrap this up I had a great experience interning at United Way of Greater New Haven. If I ever take a turn in my career path and want to help people around the world who are homeless or have other challenges, guess were my first application will be going……….
