United Way of Greater New Haven is committed to protecting your privacy and security. Any information by which you can be identified will only be used to support your relationship with the United Way of Greater New Haven.

 

Awareness

United Way of Greater New Haven provides this Privacy Statement to make you aware of our privacy policy and security practices, and to inform you about the way your information is collected and used.

 

What We Collect

On some United Way of Greater New Haven Web pages you can make donations and request information. The personal information collected on these pages includes name, contact and billing information, transaction, and credit card information. Other personal information may be collected in order to better understand your needs, provide you with better service, communicate with you more efficiently, or identify information that may interest you.

 

How We Use It

United Way of Greater New Haven uses your information to understand your needs and provide you with high-quality customer service. Specifically, we use your information to help you complete a transaction, acknowledge your gift, or communicate with you about updates on special events, tax documents, or information about the impact your donation has on our community. We may also use information submitted by you for internal uses related to the purposes for which you submitted the data, including but not limited to processing pledges, internal traffic monitoring, usage monitoring and projections. United Way may provide personal information and data to third parties to assist in internal administrative functions such as sharing data with employers for the purpose of processing donations made by payroll deduction and for United Way of Greater New Haven's annual financial audit. Credit card numbers are used only for payment processing and are not retained for other purposes. From time to time, we may also use your information to contact you for market research or provide you with information we think would be of particular interest. At a minimum, we will always give you the opportunity to decline such direct marketing or market research contact.

 

To Whom Share It

United Way of Greater New Haven will not sell, rent, or lease your personally identifiable information to others. Unless we have your permission or are required by law, we will only share your personal data with United Way entities and/or business partners who are acting on our behalf to complete the activities described above. Such United Way entities and/or business partners are governed by our privacy policies with respect to the use of this data.

 

Choice

United Way of Greater New Haven will not use or share personally identifiable information in ways unrelated to the ones described above without first letting you know and offering you a choice. As previously stated, you may let us know if you do not wish to receive unsolicited direct marketing materials from us, and we will do everything we can to honor such requests. You may also notify us about inaccurate or incomplete personal data, and we will do everything we can to correct the data in a timely way.

 

Security

United Way of Greater New Haven is committed to ensuring the security of your information. To prevent unauthorized access, maintain data accuracy, and ensure the appropriate use of information, we have put in place appropriate physical, electronic, and managerial procedures to safeguard and secure the information we collect. We use Internet encryption software, Secure Socket Layer (SSL) protocol, when collecting or transferring sensitive data such as credit card information.
