Days of Caring

Save the Date! Days of Caring 2008 is Sept. 15-21.
United Way of Greater New Haven engaged thousands of local volunteers right here in New Haven, Bethany, Branford, East Haven, Guilford, Hamden, Madison, North Branford, North Haven, Orange , West Haven and Woodbridge through its week-long community service event called Days of Caring. From Sept. 9-15, Days of Caring volunteers logged over 3,300 hours worth approximately $100,000 to benefit the regions nonprofit agencies, schools and parks.

JULIE BECK

Julie Beck, a senior Quinnipiac University student from East Brunswick, NJ, returned to Lake Charles, LA for the second year on her Spring Break to help revamp a park. As the leader of her group, she motivated 8 other students to paint, mulch, and clean debris with the help of the Parks Department. After two Alternative Spring Breaks with United Way, she is proud to see so many young people, like herself, who truly care about the state of our country.

Hundreds of books come into the Book Bank each day and need to find a new home. Can you help us sort them into categories like fiction and nonfiction? We also need help packing them up into boxes for distribution to various agencies through out the Greater New Haven area.

We have an ongoing need for volunteers to help with invasive removal at QM. Harbor Health Services Clothing Bank collects donations throughout the year of clothing and small household products and distributes them free to shoreline residents. Volunteers are needed to help sort clothing and prepare them for distribution. Volunteers are accepted throughout the year.

Sat. Elderly Food Delivery Volunteer
These volunteers deliver bags of groceries to homebound seniors who are no longer able to access our food pantry.
